We’re very excited to return to Colorado in early May 2016! We would like to highlight this part of our 2016 tour and talk a little more about a few the shows we have coming up. This is our 3rd time touring through the great state of Colorado and each time we leave our desire to return increases. It’s been a long winter and our Nomadic lifestyle keeps us in warm climates so to us it’s taken longer than we would have liked to come back. We feel there is a specific kind of admiration and respect in the mountain states for Acoustic music in general and the traditional bluegrass/folk instruments that we love so dearly. As the ice melts and lush green colors of spring return to the mountains our compass turns West.
We begin a 5 show run of Colorado on May 5th 2016 in Denver. VERY excited to be playing Bluegrass Thursdays at Cervantes’ Other Side on Thursday May 5th part of a John Hartford Memorial Fest Pre Party. This great night of music features an all star cast of talented musicians joining forces to do some Pickin’ on John Hartford feat. Pat Fiddle, Pete Wernick (Hot Rize), Chuck Morris (Lotus), Tyler Grant, Dusty Ryder ( The Railsplitters), Matt Cantor (Gipsy Moon)! We’ll be performing a late night set and Caribou Mountain Collective and Canyon Collected will be featured on the outside patio. All in the name of one our personal favorites John Hartford! Check out more about John Hartford Memorial Festival at www.Johnhartfordmemfest.com.
On Friday May 6th we head into the mountains to Vail where we will be playing for the 2nd time at Vail Brewing Company. With wonderful craft beers, delicious BBQ and a intimate middle mountain atmosphere Vail Brewing Co. is a wonderful place to play music. We had such a wonderful experience during our last visit and quickly made plans to return! Big thanks to Scott for having us and big ups on bringing in some great music like our friends the Way Down Wanderers and Miles Over Mountains!
Deeper into the mountains yet on Saturday May 7th we return for the 3rd time to Steve’s Guitars in beautiful Carbondale, Colorado! This is a most charming town in Colorado and we highly suggest visiting if you get the chance. It’s humble beauty and general sense of environmental respect = self respect is greatly admirable. Such a unique place calls for a venue to accommodate it’s unique music loving audience. Steve’s Guitars heeds this call. The walls lined with vintage and classical and exotic instruments of all kinds. Guitars hang from the ceiling as if to catch sound. You begin to feel the whole building resonate with the tones of the old wood. Room for about 50 and a byob laid back atmosphere you get to become friends quickly with the audience. Packed together tightly enjoying their own choice of recreational intoxicants freely, respectfully, happily, and responsibly. With audience that relaxed as a musician we can’t help but follow suit. The crowd listens intensely and when the music is over the vibrations of the keys still ring through the guitars lining the wall. And you can hear it all perfectly. Great listening room. Across the street from Steve’s you’ll find just the best tacos and authentic Mexican food you can find just about anywhere. For these and more reasons we can’t wait to get back!
We get a few days after that to enjoy the area and engulf ourselves in the experience of Colorado. Something that we haven’t had the chance to do on our last 2 tours through. We have an exciting 4 days before our next show. When we get this type of downtime on the road we usually get a campground and no better place then in the mountains to camp for a week!
Our next show takes us out of the mountains as our compass begins to turn back East. On Thursday May 12th we’ll head to the Lazy Dog in Boulder! This will be our 2nd time playing the Lazy Dog. We had a great experience last time as the Colorado crowds never seem to lack on enthusiasm and energy. Last time we enjoyed playing acoustic in the square right out side the Lazy Dog before the show. You might catch us out there again! Cantaloupe Jive will be coming out to help kick off this night of music!
Wrapping up this run with a first time show on Friday May 13th at Kinfolks in Manitou Springs, Colorado!
